Parkinsonism is a syndrome consisting of akinesia (loss or imperfection of movements), brady kinesia ( reduced movement ) , rigidity and tremors. It affects both sexes; usually after 60 yrs. Of age. It is a degenerative disease of the brain.
Classification of Parkinsonism:
Primary parkinsonism
Paralysis agitans or Parkinson's disease or idiopathic Parkinsonism.
Secondary (symptomatic)

Post encephalic
Toxins
Drugs
Ischemia (loss of blood supply)
Tumor
Parkinsonism plus (degenerative disorders)
Wilson's disease
Hutington's disease
Symptoms of Parkinsonism:
Trembling of wrists, fingers, sometimes of jaw, head or lower limbs.
Rigidity – due to hypertonned muscles.
Hypokonesis/akinesia – slowness of movement, difficulty in initiating a movement. Face looks blank and expressionless.
Stooped or bent posture with a tendency to fall.
Difficulty in maintaining balance while standing or sitting.
Speech is of low volume and monotonous.
Dribbling of saliva.
