Heatstroke or sun stroke occurs due to exposure to excessive heat.
Signs & symptoms of heat stroke:-
Headache, dizziness
Nausea
Convulsions (occasionally)
Visual disturbances
High fever (between 105-107 degree f.)
Perspiration absent
Skin is hot, flushed, dry.
Pulse rapid, irregular and weak
Low BP
Loss of consciousness
Before starting the treatment, temperature should be controlled and brought down by fanning, after sprinkling with water. Immersion in cold water or use of ice water necessary. Patient should be given massage to maintain circulation. If the temperature is very high, seek the medical help immediately.
